Where to Stay in North Serbia
North Serbia is the agricultural powerhouse of the country, so it isn’t as naturally impressive as the east or the west of the country, but there is still plenty to do and see. The region is very close to Belgrade, but the look and feel are completely different. The area of Fruška Gora has fantastic wineries, a beautiful national park, and different Orthodox monasteries. The Danube River also flows through part of north Serbia, making for a great road trip.
It is also home to some of the prettiest cities in Serbia, including Novi Sad and Subotica. The region was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire for a long time so it has quite a different architectural vibe than Belgrade and the rest of the country.

Where to Stay in West Serbia
Outside of Belgrade, west Serbia has some of the most popular attractions in the whole country – and for good reason. West Serbia is known for its pristine nature, beautiful emerald mountains, and some local villages packed with history and charm.
Unlike the neighboring towns in east Serbia, most of those in the west are more developed. There are renowned villages like Drvengrad and growing cities like Zlatibor. Similarly, the hiking trails are better marked and it’s easier to explore on your own without a guide.
Mecavnik Resort (Drvengrad)
The coolest part about the Mecavnik Resort is that it’s located right in the wooden village of Drvengrad, within the Mokra Gora region, Like the rest of the village, the accommodations are made out of wood. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there is a bar and restaurant within the property.
The views are absolutely stunning and they even offer a pool, spa, and tennis courts. The property does book up quickly, so make sure to book in advance.

Kucica Na Vodi (LakePerućac)
This house is right on Lake Perućac – meaning it’s one of the floating homes on the lake. You will be provided a water gondola to go from land to the lake, so it can be slightly challenging, but well worth it. One important thing to note is that Kucica na Vodi consists of three separate and significantly different homes.
Two are more of a modern fully functioning home and a third is a cabin, so make sure you’re aware of exactly where you will be staying. This is especially true if you’re planning on staying in the fall or spring months, as it can get especially chilly on the water.
These houses book up very fast, especially in the summer, so be sure to reserve way in advance of your trip. And click here for more tips on staying on the Serbian water.
Where to Stay in East Serbia
Parts of east Serbia are certainly less developed. With the exception of Niš, there is less infrastructure than in the west and fewer restaurants and accommodations. It’s a place that’s still developing – so it’s not as touristy as other spots, but probably more magical as a result.
It’s filled with mysterious caves and bridges, emerald green springs, historical vineyards, and mystical stories. And because it’s yet to be fully discovered, prices in east Serbia are even more affordable than elsewhere in the country.
Konak Ramonda Hotel (Sićevo)
If you’re choosing to stay in Sićevo, we highly recommend staying in the Konak Ramonda Hotel. It’s owned by a husband and wife who bought the house and found antiques dug in the basement.
Today, they’ve turned it into a wonderful small museum and a beautiful inn. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the area has wonderful views of the mountains. We have been incredibly spoiled every time we visit!
ArtLoft Garni Hotel (Niš)
The ArtLoft Garni Hotel is a nice hotel with modern and clean rooms, friendly staff, a filling breakfast, and perfectly located in the center of Niš.
For its central location and quality, the hotel is incredibly reasonably priced. It’s close to bars and restaurants and only a 20-minute walk from the fortress.

MON Accommodation (Niš)
The MON Accommodation is a great spot if you’re looking to stay a bit closer to the river. The rooms are well equipped and the staff has great reviews. The property also offers a reserved parking spot, which is very convenient in the city.
The property is just 10-minutes away from the city center and the path leading to the place is marked by small billboards, which can be quite rare to see in some areas.

Vila Promaja (Kladovo)
Vila Promaja is unlike any other spot we’ve stayed in before. It’s not really reachable by a city car so you first have to drop off your car at the hosts’ house in Kladovo and borrow their 4×4 SUV. Then, you’ll have to drive basically off-road for 30 minutes until you reach the place. The views are absolutely stunning and it has the best sunset we have ever seen.
There are only a few houses around this area and mostly wilderness surrounding you. There is a grill outside so we could let the dog roam free while we cooked dinner. There is also a trail that is about 5km long and starts right at the house. It takes you to a relatively unknown natural wonder that they’ve named the “German Abyss”.
Just make sure you bring enough food, water, and anything else you’ll need because you won’t want to waste any time driving in and out of the property to get supplies.
Vila DeLux (Negotin)
If you choose to stay in Negotin, we recommend staying at Vila DeLux. It’s a great spot, with comfortable rooms and close to the city center. Some of the rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but they are arranged well and the beds are very comfortable.
The hotel has a great pool and beautiful gardens, and they offer a nice breakfast, included with the stay.
