Dreamers Santova Villa-Kalamata
Ideal for Long-Term Stay
The Santova Villa is an incredible 2-bedroom home, overlooking the Messinian Bay and the Ridomo Canyon. The house is somewhat secluded, so you certainly need a car, but it is the perfect spot to spend some time working or exploring (we spent a month!). The place is about a 20-minute drive from Kalamata and makes a good, central base for exploring the Peloponnese.
The house is well-equipped, with a nice kitchen and a lovely fireplace. The best part of the house is the terrace, with magical sunsets and a nice table that became our desk for the month we were there. The hosts are also wonderful, attentive, and quick to help with any concern.
Hotel Philip, Pylos
Ideal for Families
Hotel Philip is a nice, affordable hotel, just a 10-minute walk away from the beach. Is has a fantastic infinity pool overlooking Navarino Bay. The rooms are bright and quite spacious and they have a restaurant in-house that offers continental breakfast, and a la carte lunch and dinners that can be enjoyed on the terrace.
The hotel is family-owned, and guests rave about the attention provided by the hotel manager and his family, who personally ensure your visit is as relaxing as possible. The hotel is also close to restaurants and cafes and is only about a 15-minute walk to the center of Pylos.

Achilles Hill Hotel, Methoni
Ideal for Friends Trip
The Achilles Hill Hotel was renovated in 2018 and is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. It’s located on the hill of Tapia, giving it a feeling of seclusion and great views of Methoni, and yet it’s just about a 7-minute walk from the beach.
The rooms are modern and comfortable, and the hotel offers its guests a daily breakfast and a private parking lot. Additionally, because the hotel faces west and has an amphitheatric layout, guests get a similarly stunning view from every room.

The Tainaron Blue Retreat is a 200-year-old stone tower that was turned into a stunning hotel with only three rooms, making it the perfect romantic getaway. The place is very secluded, built on a cliff that’s 150 meters above sea level, offering wonderful, uninterrupted views of the sea. They offer delicious breakfasts, as well as lunch and dinners inspired by local ingredients.
Since there are only three rooms available, they do book up quickly. The rooms are fairly small but laid out just right, with exposed stone walls. The property has a stunning infinity pool and is about a 10-minute drive away from Cape Matapan, the southernmost point of mainland Greece. It’s also a 30-minute walk away from a secluded beach, though coming up can be a bit of a hike.

The Aira Estate is a magical property, somewhat secluded, about a 10-minute drive from both the villages of Limeni and Areopoli. Kyrimai Hotel, Gerolimenas

The Kyrimai Hotel is about a 2.5-hour drive south of Kalamata, close to the tip of the Mani peninsula and Cape Matapan. It’s in the small village of Gerolimenas and truly isolated from most. It’s the perfect place for those wanting to unwind with some peace and quiet.
The property has 23 rooms of different sizes – some even have their own whirlpools. Guests rave about the attentiveness of the staff, the pool, and the restaurant called one of the best in the Peloponnese. The Kisterna Hotel is one of Greece’s historic hotels, and now a restored Byzantine mansion, with spaces that have been renovated but still preserve some historic pieces like the fireplaces. The hotel offers traditional rooms, as well as larger villas with a private, outdoor terrace and a separate living room from the two bedrooms. What we love the most about this place is that they allow pets – a rare convenience in a luxurious spot. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and about a 15-minute drive away from the magical town of Monemvasia.

Pirgos Mavromichali, Limeni
Ideal for Couples
The Pirgos Mavromichali Hotel is a beautiful, restored 18th-century tower overlooking the bay, located in the historic harbor of Limeni, one of the most beautiful and traditional coastal villages of Mani. It’s less than 2-hours away from Kalamata and about a 10-minute drive from Areopoli, making it a great spot for day trips.
The stone-built accommodation has 9 rooms, all with a minimalist, yet luxurious design. It has free, on-site parking – important in an area where parking can be quite tricky. It also offers daily breakfast, and it’s within walking distance of some delicious restaurants and lively bars.

The Salvia Areopolis Hotel is located right outside the picturesque town of Areopoli, away from the crowds, offering the perfect place to relax. It’s a little over an hour away from Kardamyli, Monemvasia, and Cape Matapan, and 30-minutes from the Profitis Ilias mountain range, making it the perfect base to explore the region.

The Wanderer’s Lodge has 3 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher and washing machine, and a terrace overlooking the valley. It’s a bit secluded, in the small town of Anavriti, about a 30-minute drive away from both Mystras and Sparti. It’s also about an hour away from Profitis Ilias, making it a great base for hiking around the area.
The road up to the village is an adventure, with windy roads, but guests rave about the breathtaking views and the peacefulness of the area. The host is kind and attentive and even provides drinks and sweets upon arrival.
